this is the one I have on my voyager I had to make a gasket for the cover
the reason I did that I had to clean the throttle body twice because the bike at part throttle would jerk after I made the gasket have-not had any
more problems

Gasket applied to the round area inside the factory filter cover?

Box arrived today thanks Joe... installation half way done already, and fits like a glove so far.

What's that? Is there a gasket that's supposed to fit inside the factory filter cover?

Edit: Annnd done. Very nice fit all around, and I don't see any need for any more gasketry (although I had a tube of Threebond liquid gasket handy so ran a bead around the throttle body before fixing the backing plate). Gone past 9pm down here so I just ran an idle for a time - I have new neighbors with small kids. I'll take it to work in the morning for a road test.

Very nice work once again Joe... Thanks mate!

I'm not sure for the meaning of using a gasket, as everything is a very tight seal and I never had any issues on my Voyager. Filter seals in groove of back plate and then seals to the cover with almost a 1/4" compression when cover is drawn tight.

Paul,
Thanks for post and enjoy my friend

Roger, would love to see some pics of this set up. Chuckster does great work too, but looking at all options for the Vaq.

Another Black Vaquero owner here. I'm interested in a Black Matte model. What are these things costing?

so I took the intake off of my VN1700 Nomad to have a look/see, and I notice that the throttle position sensor will be right smack in the way of any new back plate (at least I assume its the TPS), so I was wondering if the backplates for these utilize spacer blocks between the throttle body and the back plate.
Also if thats the case, considering the added +/- 1" of added thickness if anyone has a photo of what it looks like, BTW I am looking to do an open style (not using OEM cover)
