Did you spray the front forks or is that factory? Anyone tried plasti-dip on forks, will it hold up?

I remember him telling me people screw it up all the time when using tape. Also, he said that using 6-8 coats makes it thick enough to easily peel off if you want.

He did some rims and didn't tape anything off -- just sprayed everything to include the tire. He simply pulled the plasti-dip right off the tires and areas he didn't want and there was a real clean line with no tape. Strange.

My new bike already has some chips in the paint. I have been informed this is the first year HD has used the fully EPA compliant paint (water-based of some sort) and I can tell you I am going to have a problem with it. Others will also.

So, my son wants me to use plasti-dip on my bike. Matt-finished topped with the shiny clear coat. He says it will look great and protect the bike. He said it is easy to do and to remove if you need to.

We'll see.

The forks are factory, the headlight bezel just happened to match them PERFECTLY.

The last layer was 100% fresh when I started peeling the tape. Maybe need to let it dry a couple minutes first, I don't know.

I hate how badly the Tapatalk app decreases the quality of my pics. I may download the photobucket app and re-add all the pics in better quality.

I just spoke to my son and he said he was not the one who told me to remove the tape before the "dip" fully cures. So, maybe (most likely) it is old-timer's disease setting in. But I swear I heard it somewhere.

Good luck on your project...

I want to do that turn signal bar on my Vaquero. To me, it just looks out of place under the fairing. Good job!

Looks good! I didn't think of that so I went with getting the chrome strip powder coated black...

I agree! I bought some for that purpose but never took the time to actually do it. Now the bike is for sale so holding off...

How sturdy is the material? I was under the impression that it wasn't a permanent paint and could easily peel up if touched. I would love to try my nomad for that matte black look too.

The headlight bezel is holding up much better than the saddlebag handles. But if I would have done the saddlebag handles in six light dusted coats like I did the headlight bezel, and coated them all the way around, I believe it would have worked better. The handles I put three heavier coats on, and only on the outside.

What is the manufacture of the product you are using.

Operation PlastiDip

I did the back of both mirrors in black last season and it still looks like it was just done (except for bugs). Scuffed chrome, used bulldog adhesion promoter and primer undercoat. Three coats plastidip.
