I don't think life in prison would have been appropriate, but 240 years in prison would make me happy.

Considering usually these type of incidents result in a much lesser or no sentence, I think it's about right. I wonder if PETA assisted with her defense? What kind of idiot stops for ducks on a highway? On a surface street, sure - but not on a highway.

About 20 years ago my wife and kids were on the freeway in the northern Twin Cities metro and a woman had stopped for some geese that were walking across the road causing traffic to come to a stop. My wife was rear ended by someone doing 60 mph. The rear bumper of the car (full size Buick) was pushed up to the rear seat where my 3 kids were sitting. My wife woke up under the dash and immediately tried to get out of the car. The drivers door was buckled and she was unable to open it so she slid across the seat and exited using the front passenger door after kicking it several times. My kids were all unconscious and my wife could not get either of the rear doors open and the fuel tank had been ruptured in the collision and gas was pouring out. Luckily another motorist was able to kick in one of the rear door windows and extract my kids. Fortunately, none of our kids had life threatening injuries and none were seriously injured. My wife did have some permanent damage to her shoulder and still has a lot of pain from her injuries. The next day I went and saw the wrecked Buick and hurled my lunch seeing the damage to the car knowing my children were in that wrecked vehicle. I have ZERO compassion for people that are too stupid to be alive and putting others at risk.

Seems like a pretty light sentence to me. I don't know - maybe 5 yrs at least for being that stupid.
"It changed who she was at her very core," Hogan told the news organization. Ya well it changed the motorcyclists too. Is that about what she would have gotten in the USA? Just wondering.

What a ducking idiot. Now, not only her, but them stupid ducks will grow up and breed more idiots!

It's our natural duty as humans to not prevent animals (homer sapiens especially) from committing acts which will lead to their inevitable demise.

Naw, don't lock her up for life. She was just doing what women do. If we locked up all the stupid women up they wouldn't be but about ten or twelve left out here for breed stock.

Beside, I'm a idiot woman magnet. Granted, I didn't have such a big lot to choose from. Well, they was only two, and I married the one that could feed herself.

There were 2 motorcycles involved in the accident but no mention of the other motorcyclist involved in the accident.

The guy who died has his daughter on the back of his bike.

Never did seem fair to Joe taxpayer. We lock up the stupid, then have to pay to keep them alive. I guess It does pay to be stupid

Without knowing all the detail's, why did'nt the biker notice the car was stopped, was it dark, raining, was he dazzled by lighting from oncoming traffic, was the traffic heavy, did other people have to swerve to avoid her car, if there was another biker there what did he, and any other witnesses have to say. I realise that it's not a good idea to stop on a motorway but if the biker did'nt see the car i have to ask why.

I’ve been watching this since it happened about 40 minutes from where I live. What I understood from watching news on the trial is that the bikes where doing about 80 mp/h (legal limit is 60) and did not have the time to react. As for the sentence that was given, 90 days (served weekends and will only start after the appeal for the 10 years without a drivers licence part of the package) is considered here as «*for par*» . Canadian law, compared to US law is a walk in the park. Jurisprudence has sentenced idiots that have killed while DUI to 4-5 years and the penal system lets you out after 1/6 of the sentenced served

I'm with you on the sentencing in general, we have the same bollock's over here, the government wont build the prison's to cope with all the criminal's that we import, but i would need to know a lot more about why a bloke would run up the arse of a parked car before coming close to passing judgement on the woman driver, the law here say's you are automatically in the wrong if you do, and i have yet to hear a good reason why that should not be so.
