K ACT ABS owners? - opinions?
What do you fellas/gals think about Kawi's ABS system? In my ongoing research about new bikes, I'm trying to see how current owners like the ABS system.
I've asked similar questions on the victory and harley forums to get more info on their systems as well. I'm constantly dodging (or hitting) deer here in VA and want ABS on my next bike. Thanks for the thoughts and opinions!

Had the Voyager a couple of months now and so far I really like the brakes. Really good stopping power, but better control.

It probably saved my bacon this last weekend. We were entering a curve a little on the quick side and there must have been either a bit of sand, loose gravel or oil mid curve that I hit when I grabbed for more front brake... that's when things got a bit squirrely. I made the mistake of grabbing more front brake and both abs and kact did their thing. Kept me from locking the front and kept the front from diving. I'm a believer.

By not having the ability to lock the wheels you will most likely stay upright under hard braking. I have never had to try the system out and hope I never do but I like knowing it's there. You get a 1000 pound bike in a skid and you'll know what I mean, had my 02 Goldwing sideways and it was not fun!

I had my Voyager fall over standing still and it wasn't fun.

The only part that is weird is when hard braking on the rear brake the K-ACT will engage the ABS on the front brake. Thats good overall, but a strange sensation and I think its pretty sensitive (or maybe I just really lay on the rear brake)

These ABS brakes take a bit of getting used because of the linked brakes. Overall they work well. I have 2 HD's as well and my 2011 has ABS (no linked brakes) and it works well. A lot smoother then on my Voyager. One of my "must-have" things on a touring bike is ABS!...second is cruise control.

saved my ass a couple of times, once when I was not paying attention to the truck stopping ahead of me, and the other time on gravel with a passenger. Both times nice controlled stop and no locking of the wheels, the ABS did it's job well.

The system is a great option to have.
I like the fact that it is interlinked system but will not interlink below 13 mph. This is good for slow speed maneuvering applications so you will only have the rear brake when wanted. Also the ABS does not function at all below 3 mph.

I didn't have ABS on any of my Kawasaki's, but after having it on my current ride, I wouldn't get a bike without ABS. It's saved my ass a couple times. Where you will see an advantage too is on less than ideal surfaces. If you have a panic stop on a wet road, a road with sand or gravel it'll make a difference. As far as linked brakes go, not all are the same. May link front to back and back to front. BMW uses partial integral and it's just front to back, so applying just the front brake gives both front and back, back brake just back so ABS doesn't have to shut off at low speeds.
