The Cross of St. George is part of the Union Jack, as is the Cross of St. Andrew and St. Patrick. St. George is the Patron Saint of England. From a Catholic standpoint, this is the patron saint of the US: http://saints.sqpn.com/ncd04125.htm

My great grandmother on my mother's side was from London. I gave a simplified explanation, But basically the crosses represent England, Scotland and Ireland. Someday I'd like to visit family there, but it won't be anytime soon.

Hey Ells, the English dont fight us any more (Except at Rugby, Sorry you lost Ian).
But they sure left a lot of castles littering our place, wish they would come over and clean them up! We have the most castles per square mile than any place on earth!
Must have been Baaaaaaad boys! (with apologies to all my girl-friends)

Everyone knows the Scots were the baddest. :) I mean anyone that would eat haggis... Although they did invent that lovely adult beverage.

Why on earth would anyone eat haggis, unless you needed to throw up or something.
