Mutazu Trunk and Bracket Pics

I mounted my Mutazu trunk on the bracket I made. I had the bracket chromed at a local shop. The guy did a great job. He buffs and polishes the metal and puts layers of copper, nickel, and chrome. I'm very satisfied with his workmanship. The Pewter Pearl finish on the trunk is pretty close to the Titanium Metallic. Not perfect but close enough. In some lighting conditions it matches perfectly where in the shadows it sometimes looks a little more gray. Now we are set for overnight trips. My Canada Geese are trained to stay off of the scoot!

Looks good. I kind of wish I'd bought the upgraded wraparound backrest, but I never ride two-up. Maybe I'll order it, if only for looks.

It looks great. I might be selling my trunk and similar rack. It's some project getting to that point huh?

Tell us the story behind getting your rack fabricated, how did you do it?

I used 1" x 3/16" flatbar and bent a U-shaped hoop in an ornamental iron rolling bender. I then cut 2 pieces of 3/4" ID pipe and drilled the holes to match the set that holds the backrest in place. I notched the ends of the pipes with an angle grinder and set the hoop in the notches. I used an adjustable bevel square with a torpedo level resting on top of the hoop to get the correct angle to weld the hoop in the notches. I then welded 4 pieces of the same flatbar with 3/8" holes as tabs on the inside of the hoop flush with the top. I attached the trunk with 4 stainless steel 5/16" bolts with fender washers on the inside of the trunk. Cleaned up the bracket and had it chromed. It took most of a full day to get it all right. You are right Dan, it was alot of tedius work. It was worth it though, I was able to keep the grab-rails in place. That's what the boss wanted. If she's happy, everybody's happy.

Nice job on the rack and the trunk, terrebone. It looks great! I got the Mutasu trunk and backrest for my trike project, too. Actually, I was outside spraying the last coats of clear and came in to find your new post. Let me know if that trunk is waterproof, huh? lol

Looks real nice. I didn't think about saving the "grab bars".... wish I had. There is something about making something yourself. Ya nice job.
