It's Official: I am now a new 1600 Nomad Owner

The day after Christmas I purchased a 2008 Blue/Silver Nomad and picked it up two days later. Right now, with only 2 miles on the odometer, it is in the garage with the tank, seat, and windshield off so I can run all my electrical wiring and install all the stuff.

My 2000 1500 FI Nomad is approaching 117,000 miles. It has served me well. It has made many trips to both coasts, Mexico, once to Alaska and never left me on the side of the road.

For the new Nomad, I have a lot of wiring and distribution panels to build and install to handle both of my two way radios, emergency lights, Zumo GPS w/XM radio/traffic/weather, heated outer wear, J&M intercom/FM along with fabricating a radio box to go under the luggage rack and mounts for two radio antennas, XM, and a GPS-Automatic Position Reporting antenna.

Lightbar, Mustang Seat, Luggage Rack, Cobra True Duals SD, air kit, PC III, and several other goodies are on their way here from several suppliers and hopefully will be here by the middle of next week.

The past five days the weather has been unseasonably warm with temps reaching in the 70s. Sure wish I hadn't pulled 1600 apart. At least I am able to ride the 1500 Nomad.

I hope to have the new Nomad on the road by the end of the month (wish I was already retired).

My next two upcoming VROC events are HCRXI www.dfwvrochcrxi.com in Fredericksburg in April and SEVROC www.sevroc.org in Maggie Valley in May. Looking forward to seeing some of y'all there.

Heck, I want to meet up just to see all the stuff installed!

Congrats txcwdancer!, I know you are still having fun putting her together. Is it still as damp and overcast in RR as it is here in Houston?

Everyone has a person they look up to and respect for various things.......txcwdancer is that person for me when it comes to trips on a bike............I've known Chuck for a little over two years and find that he always breaks the record when it comes to traveling on his Nomad. I wish I could travel just half of what he does every year.

Chuck, congrats on your new 08 and when you get it outfitted the way you want, I'd love to meet up and see it. You're an inspiration to us all when it comes to seeing the countryside!!!!

WOW is all I can say. Sounds like you've been through a few sets of tires on your 1500.

...always with the "mpg"... geez Doc, give it a rest!!! The guy gets a new Nad, shares his excitement about all the goodies and all you can say is "oh, what's your mpg gonna be"????

You're too funny! (and maybe a little obsessed?)

Congratulations txcwdancer ! It seems like you have your work cut out adding all of your accessories on the new bike. To me that is as enjoyable (most times) as riding . Get the bike done the way you want and start ringing up the miles.

I can't imagine having parts and patience! Congratulations on the new bike. I'll lQQk forward to hearing more about it as it comes together. (I'm beginning to wonder how much electrical load we can put on those two stators)? ..... Well, have fun!!

Congrats Old Friend. I know you will love the 1600. Will be seeing you soon. When I get my Nomad that's the color I want. I'll see you either in Fredericksburg or Maggie Valley.

txcwdancer, Glad you're here. Sounds like you have a lot of experience to share. I'm sure you'll survive some of the oddities of this place. Just breaking in my first Nomad myself.
