Ecu ?
Still having trouble with my FI so I decided to check error codes as per Gadget's fix it.
It says the ECU is located under the seat or under the right side cover. Nothing under the seat but a battery and some connectors. Under the right side cover is the DFI and two other relays. Also the fuse block and a junction box. I can't find the ECU anywhere. Any Ideas ? 05 1600 nomad

On the 06's it was beside the battery on the left side. I would be shocked if it was any where else on the 05's.

It should be located under your seat on the left hand side of your battery. It is on the left side behind the storage compartment. It's not that big, about a 5"x5" box about 1" thick with 1 or 2 wire bundles connecting to it.

Ok, I'll look tomorrow for it on the left side. Gadget's said it was on the right side.
Thanks

Here we speak of left and right as seated. John may speak of it as car talk, in which case standing ahead of a car the right side is the drivers side which is industry std.
Loosely speaking there is a lot of wires to the ECU, and the size of the unit is about 7" x 12" x 1" . The location was the same for 1500's and 1600's and I know that for a fact because I soldered on pig tails for TFI's, and owned a 01 1500 and now own a 06 1600.

I've got a 2006 where the ECU is under the seat adjacent to the battery on the left side. I noticed there was a yellow/black wire coming from the ECU and running through a plastic connector mounted to the top of the battery holddown bracket. I didn't pull out the ECU to trace down this wire, but is this the wire mentioned on Gadget's page that you ground to retrieve codes??

The wire is yellow with a black tracer I believe. I found the ECU and pulled it out, unplugged it and rang it to ground and it is a grounded wire. What I have is nothing like the Gadgets page has.
I have one connector to the ECU , not 3 and there are no pin numbers on it. I figure the yellow/black wire is the ground they are talking about but when I did the procedure they talked about on gadgets, it didn't work as they said. I turned the ignition switch to "on" and went to the odometer reading, pushed "reset" for about 4 seconds and on the screen it said "FI" and that's it. No flashing red light at intervals nor codes being displayed or anything. Guess I'll end up taking it to the dealer from here. He'll charge me my firstborn and I'll cry tears as big as horse turds. But I'm at my wits end on this.

Yes , there is a yellow wire under the seat with nothing plugged into it but I read it with my voltmeter with the ignition switch turned on and it reads 5 volts to ground, so I didn't want to ground it for fear of blowing a fuse or shorting something out.

\ I appreciate it Mac, it's either get it fixed myself or take it to the dealership and I hate to do that.
