Who are going to ride Talimena

Hey guys! I'm the new kid around here. Mind if I throw my hat in the ring?

I'm headed out late Friday morning. Probably going to take 20 around the DFW area up to 30, then out to Paris and on up. I'm hoping to get a campsite reservation here: http://www.talking-trees.com/. No response to my email inquiries though.

If anyone wants to ride up together, post up and we'll discuss. I'll check this thread again before I hit the road.

Hope to meet some of you!

Arrived back home about 10:00 this morning. I want to thank Nightmare for a great ride. We rode somewhere around 260 miles on Sat and I think everyone had a great time. Looking forward to the next one.

Well, nuts. ::)

I'm pretty sure I caught sight of your group pulling out of the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge a little after 3:00 pm Sat. If Wanderer's went, then I did see you guys. Unless you guys had a white trike with your group? We got a big bunch of waves out of that group as we went by. Anyway, sorry I missed you guys. Maybe next time!

I arrived at the Talking-Trees campground at about 6:30 p.m. Friday and got camp set up until my girlfriend and her kid showed around 9:30. Hung out, toasted some marshmallows, had a cigar, sat in the jacuzzi. The campground was great overall, and the proprietors were very nice and accommodating. We nearly had the entire campground to ourselves.

On Saturday, we got to ride Talimena drive twice. Since the campground where we stayed was almost right in the middle, we took off west toward Talihina, turned around at the end and went into Arkansas as far as the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge, had a late lunch, then turned around again and headed for camp.

The highlight of the trip had to be the camping. The whole family had a fantastic time, especially the boy and the dog, who spent a majority of the time in the pond or down at the creek. Nights were spent by the campfire reminiscing about the day. We didn't want the weekend to end.

The Nomad performed flawlessly, and I'm happy to report the 12v car adapter installation worked like a champ. Never had to think about where I was with the GPS on the handlebars. :)

The trip up there took almost 5 hours each way. Tons of GREAT riding once you get into OK.

It is good to be home, but I'm ready to go again. The scenery was fantastic, the roads were pure heaven, the traffic was minimal, especially Friday. Ahhh.. salve for the soul..

Unfortunately pics are nearly non-existent. My camera decided to take a crap the morning after I got there, so I have TWO whole pics, both of my bike somewhere in OK. Ah well.. here's the best one:

Dirtyjake, welcome to the site and it was great riding with you this weekend. This man is easy going, just goes with the flow. You'll like him. Wrong color bike, but he kept up alright.

Gosh, didn't realize the red/silver Nomads were slower than brand x's. Good thing the look and mpgs are so much better.

Seriously, enjoyed all of you gents and look forward to making more trips.

Glad you were able to join in Glenn, and I think that red Nomad did get better mileage. When you get all that bling on there, expect it to go down with the rest of ours.
