Back from 3000 mile + trip

Just got back from an awesome ride. On June 2nd we headed out from Southern Illinois to Waynesboro Virginia. We stayed in Waynesboro a number of days and rode the Skyline Drive. Rode up to Front Royal on the highway and took Skyline back to Waynesboro. While in Waynesboro we rented a car and went to Washington D.C. Rented the car because the weather was crappy. We left Waynesboro and rode the Blue Ridge Parkway down to Mt. Airy. From Mt. Airy we jumped off the parkway and took a side trip for about five days to Myrtle Beach. Then back to Mt. Airy and on the Blue Ridge again. Rode to Maggie Valley and stayed about three days. Then went to Cherokee and camped there for a few. After Cherokee we crossed the Smoky Mountains to Pigeon Forge and stayed a few nights. Went to the Dixie Stampede and treated my wife to a couple of days shopping in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Drank some whisky and moonshine in Gatlinburg - had a good time! Rode back to Southern Illinois from Pigeon Forge in a day. We were on the road from June 2nd to June 26th and put on about 3500 miles. I rode my Vaquero and pulled my Harbor Freight trailer with all the camping gear in it. My wife rode her Suzuki Boulevard M50. Lots of nice miles, plenty of beer, great times with my best friend, and no mishaps (except for the $200 parking ticket and tow of the rental care in D.C.). It was a great trip. Pics are on my Facebook page if you are interested.

Glad to hear that you had a good trip. I just returned from a 1500 mile trip in the mountains of NC and Va. I was in the same general area that you traveled thru. Was in rain everyday. But still had a good time.

We hit a few days of rain too. Just made the best of it. We had a blast. After being on the bike for that long I now think I could live that way.
