Grin Memorial Weekend Trip

Serviced the nomad forst of last week, oil change, gear oil, checked radiator, getting ready for trip to Smokey Mts. Packed T-Bag Thursday morning, straped bag to bike and headed out from Lenoir NC to Pigeon Forge Tenn. Rode I-40 to Foothills Parkway, through Cosby, and into Gatlinburg on 321, then on to Pigeon Forge via 441. Took short ride aroung Towsend and back to Pigeon Forge Thursday evening after supper. Left Friday morning on 441 South for Cherokee, then on to Bryson City, on old 19, then on to 28 to Fontana Village. Stopped at Fontana Dam, (tallest man made dam in the eastern united states, BTW). After a short rest at the dam, back on the bike headed for the dragons tail. Stopped at Deals Gap, about a hundred bikes there, down the dragons tail to south end of Foothills Parkway, up Parkway to 321, through Towsend and back into Pigeon Forge. Packed everything onto the bike Saturday morning heading back to Lenoir. Decided to ride the mountain roads back into NC. Up 411 to Newport, onto 25 toward Hot Springs. Stopped by a little community called Del Rio, a little resturant there called the Fox Den. One of the best fresh hand patted hamburgers you have ever eaten. On into Hot Springs, stopped for a short rest and look around. Then on to Marshall, Mars Hill, Burnsville, Spruce Pine, Jonas Ridge, and finally into Lenoir and the house. Bike did great, first trip with it and well pleased with the way it performed. Averaged about 38 or 39 miles per gallon for the total of 575 miles. Good riding to everyone.

Sounds like you had a good trip. I'll be leaving June 20th for a trip into Va and WV with the wife. Camping and riding, can't wait.
