I was about ready to put a "missing person" alert! Try going to control panel and then display. There may be a setting there. Good to see ya.....

Hey Wolfman the best way to fix your computer is to open the nearest window throw it out and go get another one

Welcome back WM! PC issues can be a PITA. I haven't done desktop support in years, since back in the Windows 95 days so I wouldn't be much help. Now if it were an IBM AIX system, I could help you.

Changing your resolution on the Display Properties window should only make the screen image smaller or larger. The lower the resolution the larger the image should be. It definitely should not change the aspect ratio of the pictures. In other words, the ratio of the height and width of a picture should not change as the resolution is changed. I wonder if something got messed up on your video card? If you can't get your display set up correctly you might want to contact the Geek Squad and tell them they didn't get everything fixed right.

That depends on your video drivers and your setup. I'm doing 1900X1200 (wide screen) at work. Totally different at home with 1280X1024 (standard screen). I can tell my card to do 1280X1024 on the wide screen, but then it will either stretch or letterbox depending on my driver setup because the ratio of height to width is different.

Must have had a brain fart, or maybe a senior moment. You're right, I forgot about those resolutions for wide screen formats. What the heck, I've only been in the computer field for 30 years and the only thing I've learned for sure about computers is this: "Do you have any idea of how much I hate computers?"

All I know is that 1152 X 864 is the only resolution that won't distort things on my computer
