Why I Carry a Gun

PEOPLE ASK WHY I Carry a Gun?

My old grandpa said to me son,' there comes a time in every man's life
when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's
when he becomes too old to take an whoopin'. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough
to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun
so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating
myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and
not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a
cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the
ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am
inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful
to me.

Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the
crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to
take an as* whoopin'.

I would rather be tried by twelve than carried by six!

As others have said, "The Second Amendment is your carry permit."

Why I Carry a Gun

I see it a bit more bitter, in that the flop of the Govt twitts have a rolling door policy with the most vile villains. Then the system of injustice is off the mark and has no site of what it should be doing legally.

The end result is the system of injustice allows, and even seems to like more killings done to enhance their wealth.

Once there was a time when I didn't think I really needed to carry a gun every day, but that all ended for the last time in Easter 99.

I only began to carry in the mid 80's, but now the only time I am not armed is when I am not wearing pants. And then there is a ss gun very near by when I shower, and on the night stand when I sleep.

Then last, is both dogs here bark when things in the night go bump, which ain't very common.

But then locals even, have no idea this place is.

I don't like feeling this way, but then I don't think I would like the feeling of dead much either.

Still new to the CCW game although I have had a permit for a very long time. (that's another story) I'm still trying to figure out how to hide handgun and have it readily available if needed. My brother in law gave me a pea shooter two years ago and I pack it around but it is only good for slowing someone down. Since 80% of people shot with a handgun survives maybe that is good enough. We need to protect our 2nd amendment rights.

Couldn't agree with you more Mac. We all have the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms and we should all exercise that right. It's much better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. The two Glocks at lower left, which are both 40 calibers are my every day carrys and occasionally the two .357 wheel guns on the lower right. I prefer the autos because of magazine capacity. 16 rounds in the Glock 22 and 10 in the Glock 27. The Ruger .22 caliber at upper left is for the grandkids to learn safety, responsibility, and how to shoot with while the S & W Model 29 .44 Magnum at upper right is my deer hunting pistol. They are all merely tools with a purpose. I pray that I will never have to pull one out of a holster to protect myself or my family from a bad guy but if it happens, as Bob said, I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

Why I Carry a Gun

Remember when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
A lady at a banquet once asked a sheriff sitting at the same table if he was expecting trouble because he had his sidearm at the banquet. To which he replied "No mame if I were expecting trouble I would have brought a shotgun.

.25 I'm thinking it would be good for shooting out knees. I doubt it would penetrate a leather jacket.

Why I Carry a Gun

You're right Bud, a .22 LR penetrates deeper. I've witnessed a friend shooting standing beer bottles with his .25 auto breaking some while just knocking down others. Kind of scary.

Why I Carry a Gun

Hey Bud. Unless you're overly fond of the .25 I would suggest trading it in for at least a .380.

There's a lot of truth in the old saying, ". . .bring enough gun!"

Personally, my main carry is a 10 MM S&W auto. I have been known to carry a .44 Mag Ruger also.

If they weren't so stinking big I would love to carry the S&W .500 Magnum! Dirty Harry would have loved that one!
