wondering if this ever happened to you

Went out this morning to get on the 09 Nomad and after turning the key on there was no HMMMMMM noise and it would not start. Had to turn off and on 3 or 4 times before I would get the HMMMM noise. As soon as the noise was present it started. This has happened 1 other time and after turning off and back on with noise present it started. Any suggestions.
Replaced Battery last week due to the old one not keeping a charge. I am going to check the new battery out tonight when i get home. Just hope it starts so I can get home.
Thanks
Ronnie

Well the hmmm noise is your fuel pump priming itself. My guess is an ignition switch with worn/burned contacts or a loose connection in the primary circuit.

I had a similar problem, fortunately dielectic grease worked for me.
I sprayed a little WD40 into the ignition switch and then put some dielectic grease on the key and slid it into the ignition several times, afterward there wasn't any more hesitation for the switch and this has been three years now, with no problems. Being as I get caught in the rain frequently, I'm guessing it's what started the hesitation to begin with. Hope your problem is an easy fix.

I'd look at the ignition switch as well for starters.

There's a product called Lock-Ease & it's good stuff! Been using it in construction for years & it works very well to lubricate, prevent rust & keep moisture out of key locks. If you ride in rain it'd be good to squirt a little in your switch every now & then.

I have used that product in the past as well, and it does work good.

I took mine apart and lightly sanded the glaze off the contacts, it seems to fix it for a while.
