Kurkayan Iso-grip Finish

Anyone have Iso grips that have lost all the finish off of the rubber? Mine will turn your hands black if you touch them without gloves. I might try to clear coat them with urethane or lacquer to seal them.

Yeah some of mine is gone. I never ride without gloves so I didn't notice the black on the hands.

I've been running mine for about 5 years now, and no "black" coming from the rubber. But the chrome is another story, it's starting to bubble and tarnish.

I would not use lacquer to seal them. The solvents in Lacquer will eat into most plastics and man made rubber compounds leaving the surface a sticky mess. Clear urethane would be safer.

Mine starting to do the same, rarely ride w/o gloves though. I haven't put much thought into a solution, too busy dealing with other issues.

Yeah. I kind of expected that here. The heat and sun eventually ruins everything. I notice it when I ride wearing my fingerless gloves. I sprayed some Protectall on them to see if that helps. Not sure yet if it did.

Mine do it too. Don't usually ride with gloves and hands get some black on them.

If it's the "shine" your talking about on the rubber, yeah mine is losing that too. I suspect that wearing gloves all the time tends to wear the shine off the rubber. I notice that the areas the gloves don't always touch, still shines.

OK, well we have a unamious decision, Iso grips suck. yes my finish is not what it used to be but my rubber is good. HEHE. I only ride with gloves, the oils in your bare hands ruins the rubber. So all you guys got to do is keep buying new Iso grips every few yrs to keep 'em looking good. or buy some all aluminum grips and forget it. :-)

My riding gloves are undyed deerskin. There is not much friction and very little oil because of the gloves. I'm not crazy about the Iso grips; they look cool but....
The chrome is good however. ;) I'll find something to dress them back up with.
