Idaho's jack adapter - Safety Notice

Okay, I feel like a dumb sh!t. I have been worried about one of you driving off on your Nomad with the adapter still attached to the bottom of the bike. I've even asked you to tie a string between the pins long enough to go over the seat to ensure that you will remember that it is down there. Well,,,,,,,, tonight I finished my spring maintenance project and rolled the bike out of the garage. Made sure that everything was tight, put my helmet on and went for a short test drive. Ride was smooth with no problems. Put the bike in the garage and mounted the saddle bags on the frame and came in to make dinner and check email. As I was sitting here I suddenly remembered that I forgot to remove the adapter frame! I went outside just to double check and sure enough, there it was, still attached to the bike with both "pins" still in place and the coat hanger holding the front up. PLEASE, those of you who have these things be very careful. Put a ribbon on your handlebars or something to remind you to remove the frame when you are done. This is why yours are green or white or red or anything other than black. Mine is black and is very hard to see when it is in place. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be very careful. Idaho.

Yeah I know, "do as I say, not as I do". Luckilly it stayed put. Had the bike on it for a week straped down to the jack. Was going no where. Made a great steady platform when I was wrenching things loose from the bike. Rick, I think you are right, a new color is in order. Hot pink or bright green. I just need to see the dang thing. And, I am going to do the strap over the seat from one pin to the other. Good grief.

This reminds me about the tale of the sluggish boat and the trailer, but you've all heard that one I'm sure.

Need one of those "REMOVE BEFORE FLYING" banners that they use on aircraft to remind you to remove the Stands.

Try out those plastic coiled key chain things sold at Wallyworld about $2.00. Get a brightly contrasting color, attach one end to clutch handle the other to the adapter, and there you are. Same idea as with the disc brake locks. ;)

I am with Radco... Bright orange and or bright PINK, because almost none of us will go do anything with a pink part... on a bike that is....

If it runs that well attached, just weld (or bolt) it into place and don't worry about it. So your ground clearance is a little less. The motor hits first anyway.
