The passing of Old Dog

I'm not sure if this belongs in this section or not.... this is where the computer went when I turned it on.

My Dad was a member here on this forum and went by the moniker "Old Dog". He was on a ride with other riders in Oklahoma this past week (I assume some of you were there as well) in the far south eastern corner. We have since learned that this a very scenic area with some mountains. We have been told that he apparently misjudged a switchback, went onto the shoulder of the road, possibly over corrected and went off the right side of the road into a tree. Thankfully there was no suffering from what we have been told. He and my Mom had just celebrated their 50th Anniversary on Sept. 25th. We wish to thank all of you that had befriended him on here or in person. He was a very friendly man, and made friends wherever he went. We take solace in knowing he died doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle exploring new areas of the country with new and old friends.

If anyone has anything they would like to share with us (his family) we can be reached by email at: plummit426@gmail.com

Thanks again,
The family of "Old Dog"

Sorry for the loss of your Dad! The good Lord has him now and there are no crashes in Heaven! As I get older I often think to myself will I finish this ride? I'm 53 now and the Lord never promised me tomorrow. Lots of things go through my mind that never occurred to me as a young man. Prayers with and for you and your family!

Our thanks to you all

The family of Old Dog would like to extend our sincere thank you to all of you for befriending our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and friend. We now have some closure, and are doing our best to move on without him in our lives. We would like to send a special thank you to the members of the Antlers Group from Antler, Oklahoma for sending the beautiful bouquet of flowers. Knowing that people like you would take the time and expense of doing so, only reinforces what we already knew.... he was liked by so many and made friends easily, especially when on his bike.

He will be missed here as well. Thanks for helping us deal with this. God bless you and your family

This was a sad event, and I'm amazed that the family took the time to post this.
A huge thank you to the family. Can some one post a photo in the first post?

Did you manage to go down to Oklahoma and pick up the trailer? Still think of him daily.

I have thought about Verne often.
I work in the area and drive past Talimena Drive at least once a week.
I'll never pass by it again without thinking of the accident and Verne.

I know it's hard on the family. At this point they can't think of him without tears coming to their eyes.
But experience has taught me that a day will come when thoughts of
him won't bring tears to their eyes, but instead a big smile to their faces.
It will take time. I hope that day comes soon.
