Rick too bad you missed the rally, you would have won the longest distance traveled award by about 1000 miles. It wasn't a new Vaquero like you thought, so you would have had to just settling for partying with us.

I would have partied ...no doubt! Norm.
I'd have had bragging rights that would have lasted for a long time to come. At least till 2013 when you East coast guys ride out for the next National, which I'm sure will be ocean side somewhere in the west. Maybe even British Columbia. That would be cool!

Sounds good Rick - however who would be willing to pay the prices for gas, food and accomodations in BC, much less Canada :(" title="" border="0"/>

It might be more expensive here in Canada and especially BC, but look what you get for it!!! There is no place on the planet with roads and views like we have here.
Lot's of folks would like to, and plan to come west sometime so what could be better than a ride up the west coast or through "The Rockies".

BC is nice for sure and it has been a long time since I was out there so I would try and make it, but Mike does make a point. It costs me around $20 to fill up the Nomad around here and traveling down to MV we paid around $10-$12 to fill up everywhere. We also only paid from $48 to $69 a night for decent accommodations. On a trip to the east coast 2 summers ago We couldn't find anything but flee-bag motels for anything much less than $100 and mostly paid $120 to $130 for decent ones. U.S food I found to be comparable in price. Their beer was a little bit more expensive than our bottled water, but had pretty much the same effect.

The gas prices and motels here would definately put a damper on a lot of us being able to attend any decent rally here. Me being only a hundred miles from the border try to ride there as often as possible. Not to mention the cheap booze and cigars. ;)

Oh I hear you!! I'm only about 1/2 hr. if that, to the border and cross the line almost every weekend. I've been driving two vehicles across just for gas. We buy a fair bit in bulk at Costco in Bellingham. We save a ton. Plus the dollar is on our side right now. I paid $3.92 gal. for 89 oct. on the weekend. Pretty good !!! ...........we pay $1.35 a ltr. here on average. You do the math.
But gett'in back to the thread,.....People,...you have to come and see the area,... worth every penny.

Rick it might work if we had the rally HQ near Bellingham and planned a couple of rides into BC.
Just a thought.

Here is the trick for accommodations when travelling across Canada or the US in the summer. Look for Colleges and Universities and stay in the residence halls. They aren't like they used to be when we went to school. One of the residence I run is all 2 bedroom suites with double beds, a/c, bathroom for the 2 bedrooms and a kitchenette (fridge, microwave and convection oven), plus tv with satellite service and internet in every bedroom. The price is $69/night for the entire suite. When I did a trip out east a couple of summers ago my friend and I spent most nights in residences. The most expensive was is PEI where we paid $90 (early July). In Halifax we only paid $70 something for a 2 bedroom apartment. Mind you that was at Saint Mary's and I am a Dal grad so it hurt to stay there :'(

Barrie, how do you make arrangements to stay there? Can you book ahead or just show up.
I stayed at Uof Guelph residences when I was working at the Hockey School and it was great.
