Yahoo, in 4 weeks it will be March 15th and it will be legal to drive a motorcycle again here in Quebec. The winter snow tire law legislates us off the road till then. Now if only the snow could disappear by then.

You could put a car snow tire on and ride legally all year.

Never knew you couldn't ride until March 15. That sucks.

TC you would need to have a snow tire front and rear to be legal. Now if I was younger and still had a street legal dirt bike, I'd probably do it just to be a wise a**.

You know you learn something everyday. That must suck if you get a nice warm day.
Have you thought of putting chains on. You can ride that bike to the North Pole and Back.

Actually last year the warm weather got here March 1st... the law provides certain rights that exempt us from the law, a 7 day grace period (in case of sale, travel towards the warmer states, etc) so believe me serveral people I know asked for it (it's free) and were able to ride as of March 8th... But with the amount of snow that is on the ground right now, I'm not betting on it this year

Today in Barrie it was +4C, tomorrow is supposed to be +7C and rain, Fri +7C and sunny then we go back to -4/5C and some flurries. I actually saw a guy on his motorcycle today!!! Nuts in my opinion there is just way too much sand on the roads.

The law is pretty specific on what you can and can't use for winter tires. I find this part funny, for my truck M+S tires are not acceptable, but LT tires are. My LT tires are a Summer tread, the only way my truck is going anywhere with them is if it is down hill. LT or light truck designation has nothing to do with tread design. It is the side wall construction designating 6ply or 6ply rating.

http://www.mtq.gouv.qc.ca/portal/pag...on_pneus_hiver

I really don't have much of an issue with the law, for the most part it does make sense, but when the bike is concerned and we have abnormally nice weather it can be frustrating.

Here you go for our fellow riders in La Belle Province http://www.reifenwerk-heidenau.de/mo...oint=5&rtyp=17. This is a german company that makes snow tires (M&S rated) for motorcycles and scooters. They have a US distributor, but sorry guys, they don't make them in a size that would fit the Nomad.

Hey they are pretty neat, unfortunately M+S tires are not considered real winter tires here. Tires must be the snow/ice variety.

Okay this weather sucks. Today was +8 and sunny, and I can now see grass on almost half my yard, or I should say I could this afternoon, as it is now -7, 40kmh winds and snowing. Expected snowfall 10cms. Oh well guess I better sharpen and wax the skis for another weekend of skiing
