I've travelled over all the area you will be visiting. Awesome scenery. Be careful of the heat! Ditto on the pictures.

Heading out to CO/UT This afternoon

We are having a nice visit with my sister Nancy and her husband Mark. We drove out to Red Rocks and saw the stage then drove through Morris and Evergreen. This would make a nice little ride - though only about 12miles. It was record setting heat of 102 in Denver yesterday. We are taking it easy today. Looking forward to our next leg in the mountains where it should be cooler. The forecast for Moab is 104 and Cortez is mid-upper 90s so we definitely will have some hot days ahead.

On the way out, we decided to get off I-70 and take some smaller roads for better scenery. It was fine for Thursday evening west to Salina. Friday we went North out of Colby KS to 36. This was an incredibly boring ride in eastern CO. We kept approaching little towns with high hopes of food and fuel, but all we saw were abondoned buildings and an occaisional post office. As this met back up with I-70 we finally ate lunch in a small joint called Country Burger in Byers, CO. Maybe we were just extra hungry from a two hour lunch delay, but the meatloaf sandwich was definitely tasty. We saw several other bikers there on their way to Sturgis.

Glenn,
I'm not exactly sure of your route back home but my favorite road in S. Utah is 95. GREAT scenery!

Sorry about your lunch delay Pete. Could have told you there is nothing-nada-ziltch on 36 until you hit Byers.

We made it back home safe and had a wonderful time. A total of 2456 miles - the final 15 were very wet but no way we were going to stop. I'm going to dry out a bit, I'll share some more about our trip tomorrow.

Glad y'all made it home safe and sound Glenn. Don't forget to update your trip logs map. It will resemble the Republican or Verizon coverage map when you're finished.
