Tire questions, I'm sorry...I have to.

I need a new rear tire. I believe the nomad has a 170/70r16 on it stock. Is it correct that at 180/65r16 will work?

I'm looking at the me888 from metzler but they only have a biased ply of the 180/65. Is that worth looking into?

I know car tires all day long, but the mc tire kinda has me lost.

What recommendations does everyone have for a good traction, long lasting tire? I've got 12500 miles on the nomad now and I'm ready for my third tire. I'm not looking for dark side recommendations, I'm. It ready for that on my nomad yet. I'm also not unrealistic in my mileage expectations. Hoping for 10-15 thousand miles, enough to last a season. I just put this current tire on about 2.5 months ago.

I'm going to join you in your question. I have one about the Pirelli Night Dragons. Is anyone using those and how do they like them? Al

Greetings,
I like the Mich Commander II's (Vaquero). Have run and liked the Dunlop Elite III's (1700 Nomad). Ran the hell out of the Metzler ME 880's (1500), have not tried the 888...
Yes, the size "180/65/16" is right. That is what currently is on the Vaq. No noticeable difference in handling to me. Wearing very well 4K into it. Should not have any problems getting HIGH teens on the rear with the Mich CII based on how it looks now. It IS early, but looking good.

Ride safe,
Smokier

I just put on. A 180 /70-16 radial tire. No issues. It is an Avon Cobra AV72. Feels real nice in the turns. No issues with size or the fact that it is Radial. You can mix Bias and Radial tires as long is the Radial is in the rear and not the front.

My 2010 Nomad came with 170/70 B16 on it not Radial. Have run Radial on the rear no problem. Now have Mitch 130/90B16 front and 180/65B16 rear. This is my 3rd set of Commander ll and still like them.

I have run some Pirelli Night Dragons. I am still running thru the rest of the available tires out there, but so far, I like the Pirellei's the best. In fact, i like them a lot. Great feel and feedback, great traction, good wet traction. Can't give accurate mileage, as I got a nasty flat from a couple of big nails.

No I did not know that. I had Metzler's on a rocket 3 and they were to soft I thought. But the Rocket had way more HP than the Voyager does. Mine has the Bridgestones on it now and I may give the Pirellis a try. Al
