Every thing in my life has a purpose, no toys.
In other words I'm cheap.

My two kids are grown and have gone off on their own. My SO's oldest will be in college
next year. Only her youngest is left at home. He's 10.

I've just given into the fact that I'll never be able to retire. Sometimes I feel more like a
mechanic than what I really do. It's a lot of work to keep a 30 year old boat, two 16 year
old jetskis, one 25 year old golf cart, and one 7 year old motorhome, and stepson's 19
year old jeep running (technically the white jeep isn't mine, but I get to do all the mechanics
on it). My stepson and I did the lift kit, rims and tires, cut the fenders, made the roofrack.
We also did the lift kit on the Rubicon.

I can't afford to pay anyone else to work on all this stuff. I wrench on something
just about every weekend out of necessity (alright..........and I like doing it).

Pulled the gas tank, carb, emptied the tank, flushed everything and cleaned the carb on
the golf cart this past weekend. That's one down and she's running good. I want to weld
up a gun rack for it so I can use it for bird hunting and sporting clays this year.

Parts should be here for my SO's Yamaha tomorrow so I can finish that one.

Both carbs on the boat need to be cleaned. Picked up a nasty midrange stumble. Probably
do that next weekend.

White jeep has to have the intake and exhaust manifolds pulled so we can put new freeze
plugs in it. They've rusted through and it leaks coolant. Parts will be here for that for next
weekend too.

Thanks. It's just like anything else.......ya have to keep after it. Fortunately I live in a desert so no rust. No garage/trailer queens here. Everything gets used and pretty hard. The boat is not really all that fast. It's in the low 90's. Gets there quick though.

Wompus, you've got some cool stuff there. The wagon epitomizes "toy".

Well, I enjoy flying. I can't afford to own a plane or build one from a kit, but someday when the kids are out of the house I am going to. Here's a photo of me flying in a T-34 Mentor with the Willow Grove NAS Flying Club before they decommissioned this year. I typically fly a Cessna 172 or a Citabria that I can rent from the flight school.

Other than that, the three kids keep me plenty busy along with the house. I have twins that are 7 and just went to their first Phillies game, and a daughter that is 21 months too. (Allison, Isabella, and Madison, respectively)
