Welcome from a fellow Buckeye! Had the opportunity to ride a VTX1800 a few years ago and really like it, no doubt Honda builds great bikes. However once you go Nomad you'll never regret it. The lack of factory accessories is a bummer, but there are plenty of Kuryakyn, etc... options. Plus there aren't too many things missing anyway. We enjoy riding down your way, hope to meet up with you sometime no matter what you ride.

Hey there and welcome from Langley.BC. Canada.
The people here are awesome in a lot of ways.
I too have a list a mile long with $3500-$4000. total cost for everything I've added to my Nomad. Some ideas I've come up with, some I've "stolen", some I've purchased, lots to add. Stick around my friend and catch up on past threads and posts and then tell me there isn't much to add to the Nomad.

Many of us here ended up with Nomads after having owned different brands, so our enthusiasm for the bike is backed up by previous experience.

Since I don't mind displaying my lack of knowledge, I will ask what I have long wanted to know. I read somwhere that 2000 was the first of the FI models but it was a carb/FI (hybrid). True or false? If this is true, is there a choke? Also what do the letters after some model numbers mean?

I went from a 05 1300S to my 08 and definitely could not go back. Don’t get me wrong, the VTX was a fun bike with a lot of pep and good slow speed maneuverability. However, I feel more stable and in control with the Nomad, especially running 2 up. The funny thing is a friend of mine had the same VTX that I re-jetted for him last year. After I was done I took it for a ride. I couldn’t believe how cramped I felt! The Nomad is definitely like a recliner, you can really stretch out.

Let me know if you need something or want to ride sometime, I’m only a hour from Zanesville.

I also have a 2003 Pearl Black. Be aware of the recall for the oil filter. "Filter Kit" can be purchased only from Kawasaki, price is about $14. Enjoy your new to you Nomad and give me a shout out if you have any questions when working on or adding any accessories.
