Sending ECU to Ivan from Canada

Hello, I have a question for Canadian members. How did you send your ECU to Ivan? I want to avoid any tariffs, duties fees etc. His website says send it by post and insure for $850.00. If it's insured for that much won't it get hit with some tariffs or something?

Thanks

If your sending your own ecm to him for "repair" I cant see why you would be charged anything.

Ivan will declare the $US350 value added to the ECU, so Canada customs will convert that to $C455 and charge you duty, broker fee, and HST on that value.

Hate to disagree with you GV550. Being from Manitoba I sent my ecu to Ivan's twice for the initial flash and then for the upgraded flash.. I sent it by Canada Post and received my ecu back to my shipping address with no extra costs whatsoever. I sent it as a repair as suggested. jDon't know why Ontario would be any different. I shipped it insured for $ 900.00.

Obviously, the situation can vary, depending on the province or maybe just the way the customs agent views the service that Ivan provides. I know that others have posted here about the duty and fees. As for myself, I carried my ECU across the border and had it returned to a USA address so I avoided customs completely.
