We havn't had the bad storms come through as of yet, but it should be anytime soon.Last year I was riding home from a freinds house when a storm came up suddenly, a small tornado passed about a 1/4 mile from me, and just about blew me off the bike.

I've seen one tornado since I moved to California 33 years ago. In Minnesota we had about one a week in "the season".

Never seen one, but on my ride was closer to some at night than I cared for. One day I would like to see on live, from a safe place.

I've seen them up close and personal in Minnesota and Iowa and Nebraska. Three times in my life I've been FAR closer than any sane person would want to be. In Minnesota I was just on the far side of a small lake when one dropped over the opposite bluff and hit the water. Man it was like that lake exploded with water flying sideways everywhere. Fortunately that one was just a baby and faded quickly, but it sure ripped stuff up.

I have been living in Iowa for over 5 years and I have yet to see a tornado. May be I am lucky, but it would be interesting.

On the web they're interesting.

On the TV they're very interesting.

From 5 miles away they're really interesting. If coming in your direction they get quickly more interesting.

From one mile away, they're much less interesting and much more frightening. It sounds like a freight train is coming apart in your head, and all the pieces are hitting whatever you're hiding in.
