what size are the stock headers...

Looking at gadgets site on using harley mufflers on V&H headers leads me to thinking, anyone know what size the headers on stock pipes are where it goes into the muffler? Could I put the Harley mufflers on the stock headers?

I believe guys have installed the mufflers on stock pipes in the past, They would be very close in size so that a clamp would still seal the connection. Ive heard that some HD dealers have a collection of exhaust systems from bikes they have installed aftermarket pipes on, that sell quite cheap sometimes.

Most HD dealers call that "take off parts" when a customer orders a specific configuration on a brand new machine it arrives at the dealer with only the custom paint. the other items are bolted on by the local dealer and they then have these "take off parts" leftover. Things like seats and pipes and pegs. Alot of dealers have a sort of garage sale in the fall to try and get rid of it. That is a great place to start because 98% of that collection is brand new never used parts.

I believe Harley's are 1.75....so what size are stock Nomads? I don't have one to check.
