Dyna Beads

Ok I have heard mention of people using these. Somebody that has them please chime in on this.
I am getting tires in a couple months. Do these things make that much difference over a stick on weight? Do I need to order them and then have them put in, where can I get them and how much do I need for a Nomad? I read something about filtered valves, Is this needed on a Nomad with beads?

If it makes a better ride I am all for it but I would like to get your $.02 worth.

FYI..Everytime we get new tires we put nitrogen in them.
Didn't know if you might want to research that but we've done it ever since the first time my Hubie put them in a set of tires he put on his goldwing....and got 23000 miles on them tires!

Dyna beads make balancing extremely simple.
Filtered valve stems are not necessary.
2 ounces should be sufficient for each tire.

One advantage I see over stick on weights is that if the balance point changes during the wear of the tire the Dyna beads compensate whereas the stick on weights don't.

Bob that is a very good point. I wonder if that would help with the stock stones getting so out of whack as they wear out.

i am looking into avon cobras but if not those it will be the metz. Either way I think I will do beads. ANyone have a good place to buy?

Bob is correct. Dyna beads are constantly re-balancing your tires as they wear, stick-on weights do not.

This is where I buy my beads. You do not need any of the applicators if you install the beads when you change the tire. Just dump them in before you seat the tire to the rim.

Just out of curiosity, should you have a flat, heaven forbid, and you use the Slime tire repair method, wouldn't the Slime gum up all those little beads and cause a bad balance issue until you could replace the tire? Just a thought, just wondering.

I wouldn't use slime in a motorcycle tire, but that's just me. I'd plug it until I could get it to a shop.

To answer your question...I would assume that Slime would somewhat reduce the effectiveness of Dyna-Beads.

I've never used dyna beads personally, but you boys and the ones in the previous threads have talked me into it.......ordered 2 - 2oz. packs and applicator today. Will be pulling those weights off and hoping for better wear on my new Elite 3.

I used the beads in 2 sport bikes and 2 cruisers now without any problems. Tire wear is the best it's ever been!
I never use slime or a plug, I replace the tire if it gets a hole in it.

What is best, to have them installed by the mech when he does the tires or have the tires done and then pull the cork and put them in myself? I would say mech, right?
