If the Metzler's are from Brazil (vs. Germany) I have been told to steer clear of them.

Think I'll go with the Shinko 777 in white wall and get the 130/90 16 for the front. I hadn't realized they made that the standard size in 2009. My local shop has them available and the difference in mount/balance/install @75 per wheel (bring your own tires) vs 40 per wheel makes up for the difference in prices.

Thanks all for the comments... I'll be ordering a set of Shinko 777 with the non-standard size 130/90 in front...

CAUTION..STAY AWAY From The Metzler 880 REAR TIRES MADE IN BRAZIL !

I had a Metzler 880 www made in europe and that was a great rear tire ! EXCELLENT ! and got 14,000 miles out of it (loaded heavy)

Since then I have tried three Metzler ME 880www on -the rear- of my 02 Nomad..MADE IN BRAZIL, and ALL THREE WENT TO PIECES AT 5 -7000 miles ...SEE MY PHOTO ALBUM !

I still run the FRONT Metzler, and have had no problems on the front-and they are great at reducing "steering-snatch" on uneven pavement...

But I went to a Harley Style Dunlop wide white wall, on the rear..a bit squirmy but I hope it lasts more than 6,000 miles

If you cant buy a Metzler anywhere..it may be that they have done a re-call on the QT !

I agree with the Brazilian ME880's, I stopped using them after a couple of bad ones.
I switched to the Dunlop Cruisemax & D404 in WWW. They work pretty good in all conditions.

FWIW, after hearing some sabre-rattling in other threads about the Shinko 777's possibly wearing out prematurely, 'you get what you pay for' etc, I can report that I'm up to 6k miles now with no appreciable visible wear, and they're still grippy and quiet. Unless something drastic happens soon I may be able to dispell the perception that these tires must be inferior. I'm loving them.

Got what I needed. I like the look of the white wall tires I just didn't know what size tire to use on the front. 150/80/16 seems to be an odd ball size except for brickstone! Shinko 777's hear I come.

On a side note I will have the local MC shop change them out, while there in that general area, ie tires removed, any sugested preventative MTX that I should have them accomplish? My 08 only has 5500 miles on her and runs and rides like a top.

Since the bike is 6 years old, the swingarm and driveline should probably be serviced. Kaw is notorious for not using a generous amount of grease at the factory a lot of us have found the driveshaft slip joint dry and rusty.

One MORE Word Of Caution ! ...(aw heck my words of caution are endless)

I had a brand new -front- tire mounted at a local Kawasaki Dealer/Shop...last year !

Out here in Cali-phony...you cant be in the shop while they work on your bike ("for insurance reason's")

So I'm standing in the door way --observing-- The head mechanic aprox in his 40's--and old enough to know how/better-- Was replaceing the valve stem, thru the alloy wheel, of my 02 Nomad... And was using a pair of "side-cutter's" to pull it into place !... Being a nice guy-and easy going that I am..I didnt say anything, ...Because, if "Quality-For The Cost", was something I fight about--I'd have nothing, and be in prison for the constant fight I'd be in !

I road off into the coming summer...and three months later, out in western Nebraska (in The Sand Hills) about 15 miles south of Gordon Neb. on hiway 27 (GOOGLE EARTH It) ...I was tooling along about 60 mph..in a sweeping right curve ...and all the sudden the front tire went flat -nearly "blow-out" quick !

The 02 Nomad, Big Assed Bike..stood up..and went straight ahead.. I was able to stand on the floor boards and lean out to the right and using the entire width of the hiway.. steer around that curve without hitting the brakes...had I been going faster I would have gone across the hiway into the ditch and through the 5 strand barb-wire fence ! --had there been oncoming traffic..I'd be dead !

On examination..the valve stem had been cut nearly thru -by the tire mounting "expert"...and had finally tore thru..Way Out There..Some Where..In The Wind !

I walked to a ranch a couple miles up the road, and was able to call friends to haul me into town !....Bottom Line..it's YOUR ASS on the line..make sure who ever works on your bike does it right !
