Over fill Engine oil - issues?

James, first I switched to the Rotella T6 full syn about 7,000 miles ago. I'm on my second change and have been very happy with oils performance. Used the Mobil1 full syn before.
The mobil1 came in 5 qt jugs so I developed this practice back then and just adapted it to the US gallon jug that the Rotella comes in. I have a 1 quart bottle (Quaker State 30W so you know how long I have been doing this) and the full mark on the sight line is 5 inches from the bottom. I fill that bottle to 1/2 inch bellow the full mark from the gallon jug. I put a black magic marker line on the gallon jug sight line at the remaining oil's level. I use a front wheel chock (Harbout Freight) when I change the oil and filter and I do it from the normal drain plug (I only use the side drain once a year and it takes a bit more then). I ran the bike for a minute then let it set for a minute while I drank a beer (it's hot in FL) and then checked the sight glass. Oil was a bit below the top mark but well with in range so i now have a container that is marked with the exact amount of oil needed for my Nomad's oil and fliter change. I just fill it to the mark now from my new container.

trosco, thanks that's a good idea. I'll mark my Rotella gal. jug and keep it for measuring.

Yeah I am up fer scrap $0.78 cents worth. Any buyers?

That ain't all. I got more broke ribs than a man has. A broke neck, 3 herniated disks, one bad knee, a left elbow and left wrist I broke and set myself. No spleen, 2 bad wrists that won't let me hold a cup of coffee. I smoke and can't feel my fingers, so when I get the stench of buring flesh I know that ol' ciggy butt has come to the end. And my left thumb burns just like hell.

Yesterday me n' the bride took a short ride, Just 150 miles to go see Lupine flowers in the mts.. Before I left I got down on the good knee and hauled in the ft brake and checked my oil.

So who wants to go campin with me on the ice covered rock pile at -40 below this winta'? Thars no bugs.

Down here, all bugs, and there's plenty to go around, vanish at +40. But they're back as soon as the temperature rises above 70 again. Mac, you need a good overhaul or rebuild.

Damm Mac, I'm glad your not the complaining type.

Like I tell my know it all, first time anybody did this sons. "You better hope you live long enough to see and do what I've seen and done." but alas that was then and this is now. Had a good run and don't regret anything. Time to sit back enjoy life, ride a little, serve up a few left over vices and pinch a cute butt ounce in a while.

OT: The 3 most nawthern mt's in the Presidential Range still have patchy snow. Not fer much longer though. I didn't get to the east side of Mt Washington, but am willing to bet money you can still have a good snowball fight in Tuckermans Ravine still too.

It seems odd, but there is 50+ firest fires in Qyebec as I hear it, and the smoke is right here right now. Yesterday i took it as anything else but that.

Over haul? I don't need no stinking over haul... Even if I did, I wouldn't rate for one. No one invests in a guy worth $0.78 cents I guess the worst of it to me is not feeling what my hands do riding... I never quite know how much ft brake I grabbed...
