LED light strip
....I'm mounting a Venture trunk on my bike and I'd like to put an LED light strip at the rear underside of the trunk to work as running lights. Anybody done this or can lead me to where I might find one? Also wondering if a light strip might be to bright to use as running lights? Thanks
Mike

LED light strip
I am thinking about getting the LED 15" Ultra Light Bar in red for my Tour Pack when I get it. Scroll down about halfway down the page to find it. Not a bad price either!
http://www.customdynamics.com/Light_bars.htm This one is really nice too, but a little more spendy...either one should be just the ticket....both work as running and brake lights. http://www.chromeglow.com/store.asp?pid=12781 Cheers...Kris

Kris
...thanks for the links! I'm sure liking the 18" light bar. I think it would mount better on this particular trunk. Bu like you say, its pricey!

I had those light strips on my bags. They were at to much of an angle to be seen well from behind. If you mount them make sure they point directly back. Not tilted up or down at all.
Also if you get a dual intensity strip you can use it as running and brake lights. In my left side sig pic you can see my bag lights were not slanted that much but they were almost invisible to people following me.

....this Gadget site shows how to convert a single intensity LED bar to dual intensity. If I can find something that fits good, I will put together this simple concoction of diodes and a resistor to use the bar for running and brake lights. But I haven't quite decided yet........Still to much snow on the ground to panic!

Gadget also shows one light bar you can get at Autozone, that he put on the crossbar under the bags, down low. I bought one and had to return it as the '05 and up, those bars are curved, thus making it not likely to mount that specific light there. :( The light bar however, would be perfect for the application you want to use it for. ;)

I had this set-up on my '04 and it work great. I eventually took it off to install my trailer hitch. I'm sure this would work for what you want. |
