Hey elvis,....is what's on the map your plan for a day ride?!!! I have my doubts. I ride to Winthrop a few times a year. My "cabin" is in the Maple Falls area and I go the exact way you have routed on your map. It's a nice, picturesque, ride. It's pretty much a day ride in it's self. That "Cascade Loop" you've got on the map will take you two/few days. If the weather wasn't going to be so crappy I'd ask if I could tag along.
I'm thinking/planning of going to Anacortes for the Oyster Run on the 27th, and meeting Kris { netnorski } and maybe others down there. Are you interested??

Labour Day Long Weekend

Elvis...I rode the stretch from Davenport to Kettle Falls...that was a great ride.....heading northbound we did not have one car in our lane the whole stretch. But that wasn't on a holiday weekend.

There was a good little "hole in the wall" we ate at in Davenport.....Edna's Drive IN. Good burgers and fresh berry milk shakes! Here is a pic of Edna's http://i320.photobucket.com/albums/n...20Trip/040.jpg

Let me/us know the highlights of your trip as I am planning on doing most of your ride myself either later in September or next season.

Thanks + Have fun.

Hi Ricky,

The plan is a long weekend ride, here's what I have in mind:
  • depart at dawn Saturday [border x-ing :(], camp at Kettle Falls, [/*:m:8z4duwy3]
  • sleep in Sunday morning, hang around and head down to Lake Chelan, camp in that area [/*:m:8z4duwy3]
  • early departure Monday morning, some shopping at American Costco [discovered a French Feta cheese which is not available here] on the way home, [/*:m:8z4duwy3]<li/> get home before dark.

However, everybody's talking about bad whether, my wife said Chris Isaak is playing at PNE on Saturday, friends want to meet us on the weekend, etc. So I don't know.....I'm sorry for not giving you a definite answer....

Never done the Oyster Run, how crowded does it get? You know Anacortes is a small place. But I will watch the boards on here for Oyster Run.

Hope to see you down the road.

Cheers.

Hi Greg,

My wife also said the stretch from Republic to Kettle Falls is supposed to be great. Thanks for the tip on the eatery also.

I only hope we can make this trip as our riding season is fast approaching to the end.

Will update the post!

Thanks again.

E.

Despite the weather forecasts, we bit the bullet and did what we planned for the long weekend.

Highlighst were:

Rainy Passage thru North Cascades,
Best Western at Omak,
The passage from Republic to Kettle Falls,
Road along Roosevelt Lake,
Grand Coulees Dam, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Coulee_Dam
Road along Banks Lake [road it 3 times and once before, total 4 times]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banks_Lake
Dry Falls, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_Falls
Mosses Lake,
Pot Holes,
Othello, many Mexican restaurants,
I90 thru Cascades

Many more.... Coulees Corridor is a must ride route... Will attach some photos...

Hi Greg, that was a quick response! Only the first day was wet and we didn't care... you and your best friend on two great bikes in beautiful country, you know what I mean...

Check out this link http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/54772/travel.html, if you can do only one ride before the winter, this should be it.

Here's our route, note the "must ride" signs.

That is great info + pics Elvis. I planned a ride up to Coulee/Republic for next year...I think I will change my route a little to incorporate some of your "must ride" legs into it. Thanks Again....when I decide dates I will post them in case someone wants to join in.
