Bold Font For Some Threads

This may have been explained somewhere but I haven't seen it.
I have tried to figure this out with no luck.
Why are titles for some threads in bold?
My first thought was those are threads I haven't read or threads I have read that have new post.
But that doesn't seem to be right.
I see some in bold I haven't read and some not in bold that I haven't read.
Does anybody know what the bold font signifies?
Just wondering!!

means it contains material you haven't read yet, if you read the intial post or a couple threads, as more replies are added it shows to you as unread being in bold.

That doesn't seem to be the case. Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding you.
I try to welcome everyone to the forum when they post in the new members section.
Others have posted after me in those threads and none of those are in bold.
It's not a big deal, I just can't figure it out.
