??Vaquero debaffling??

So i took a 1-1/8'' hole saw and and drilled down the smaller pipe and went thru both inter baffle plates... The question is is that enough or should I take a 2" holes and go around the outside ring,,,and if I do will the baffle pull completely out..tried researching but didnt have much luck..
Thanks
Merry Christmas

You take a hole saw and drill around the big hole. Everything pulls out.

Are you sure that is the case on a Vaquero ? I know a 1 3/4 hole works on a Nomad.

Hmmm. Thought the 1700 exhaust was similar to the 1500/1600 exhaust.

Not sure if the internal construction is identical. Probably similar.

If you decide you don't like the sound I have a stock exhaust that has about 150 miles total on it... Willing to let it go!

I don't recall anyone trying a debaffle on a 1700, you may have to figure it out on your own and post the results. Id assume that it is most likely possible, but may take some finaggling.

Ok. Anyone try this yet. I'd like to know if I can take the whole back plate off and just get all the material out.

The farthest I got with mine was the 2 baffle plates in the back. After I heard that a tuner was needed after the cats were removed I decided against going further. The price of a tuner isn't worth it to me until I can replace the mufflers.

I did that. While it was open I installed a straight pipe through that portion too. It sounded better, but I think you'll still be disappointed. ???

So Jay when you took off the backplate did the baffle pack come sliding right out or was it a pain to get out.

Thanks

I cut the inlet end of the muffler off with a dremel tool cut-of wheel, did my work, and had the muffler shop weld the end back on. Nothing inside even appears to be able to pull out.

You can see the result in this picture. - Note, later I cut off the inlet pipe itself to use in the making of a mid-pipe to install some custom application mufflers.

Hmmm. Thanks. Sounds like i'm just better off waiting until i can afford some new pipes. Curious about your cutom pipes. I like the look and sound.

I am going to have to wait for me to be able to afford the slipons. I really hate to wait but I don't want to drill mine out and decide that they sound stupid. Allthough I would be happy with just a little more sound out of my stock pipes as they are.
