I'd be willing to bet that HD is doing this because it's no doubt less expensive than a huge lawsuit by someone. It's called "CYA." You know, the lawyers climbing on the liability issue. At least they're doing something about a possible problem, whatever their motivation.

After the safety issues, it's all marketing fellas. Riders are a lot more likely to buy products when they're standing around at an HD shop for an hour or so during a free bike repair, than being on the road, enjoying the ride.

An hour or two in a Harley shop. More like a week or two or maybe three is what I hear from from my harley riding buds.

Of course if I get a Triumph T-Bird I'm reading reports of easily over 240miles before the fuel light comes on! 5.8 gallon tank...

I bet before the national rally in 2011 there will be many a bike exchangin' among us...
I ride with a buddy that has a Soft tail Deluxe and he and I are running almost the exact same mileage. When we stop for fuel we both put in the same amount of fuel within a 10th of a gallon. Both of our bikes are stock.
