Natural gas

BD, Caddman, can it be done on a nomad?

Just read a story in Utah about people running natural gas vehicles and paying the equivilant of 64 cents a gallon.

Could probably be done but there would be a tremendous loss of horsepower. Btu value of natural gas is much lower than gasoline. Propane would be better than natural gas but again the loss of power would come into play and right now propane isn't very cheap. I'm at work at the moment removing ethane, propane, iso and normal butane, and natural gasoline from an 800 million cubic feet per day stream of Gulf of Mexico natural gas. These "impurities" must be removed from the natural gas in order for it to be transported via large diameter pipelines up to New York and New Jersey. Otherwise the NGL's would liquify and freeze in the pipelines each time a pressure drop occurs.

Would probably need some kind of odd looking (for a motorcycle) tank too huh?

It could be done. Should it be done? Should we be riding with pressurized containers strapped to the bike that, if they broke loose, shoot off like a rocket?

Tanks that have to vent gas if they're full & you park in the sun?

I dunno...Gasoline is dangerous enough for me.

.

Could perhaps be integrated into a left turn violation counter measure?

Convert it to propane, and use a BBQ tank. ;)
