iPod connection

Hi all. I am new to the Kawasaki community. I bought a 2014 Vaquero less than a week ago and I have been doing a lot of research on what goodies I want for my new bike. I'm sure this subject has beat to death, but I have a hard time paying over $100 for a short pigtail to connect my iPhone/iPod. I have read a lot of threads and know there are some very smart people. Someone has got to have found a way around this. I hope I do t have to bite the bullet. Thanks for all the help in advance.

You can get the audio adapter for $57 but you won't get track, artist, album and charging. Believe me when I say the iPod adapter is great.

The iPod adapter is the way to go so you have full control from the handlebar switches. Look on Amazon for better prices then through Kawasaki.

Trust me, you will be glad you spent the extra money for the full control.

Sometimes you can find a used one for half the cost if you are lucky.

One thing to be aware of, if you are not already, is the the Kawasaki adapter is for a 30-pin dock connector, not the Lighting connector. I tried using my iPhone, along with an adapter for 30-pin to Lightning, but found that the tight clearance resulted in the adapters not lasting very long. I finally went to a pawn shop and bought an iPod nano for $20. The iPod has worked beautifully for me.

Good point, markc- ran into the same issue with my i6, now running my wife's old iPod touch. Agree with others, the controls at your fingertips and the music info on the radio display is a great plus.

Were I to do it over again, I would not have bought the overpriced Apple product.

When I added a GPS to my Voyager, I got one that played MP3. Moved the iPod to my truck and never looked back. I filled the iPod in 2010 and it hasn't been plugged into a computer since.

anyone have thoughts on just the audio adapter? I have an ipod shuffle and it only has the earbud connection. I do know I can still control volume only with this set up and I know Kawi says it wont charge with the 1/8 connector, but that is the only way to charge the shuffle.
Anyone else have this set up?

Put a 12V outlet in the trunk, connect a FM-Transmitter with an SD-Card to and listen to your music as a normal radio station.

Works for me. Also got the MP3-cable, but only used once with an MP-3 player.
