Rear Shock Settings
FWIW, when I switched to the Rotella full syn on my suzuki C50T, I noticed harder shifts actually. Kind of surprised me as I was expecting the syn to make things smoother/quieter. I used (and still use on my Nad) the NAPA oil filter.
I run the stock shock settings on my bike right now, but, coincidental to reading this thread, have been thinking of adjusting it to a bit more cushy ride. Is a lower number cushier or is a higher number cushier??? Thanks, Daryl |

Rear Shock Settings
I find that if I run no air or just a little, that I bottom out on some bumps , 35lbs on #3 works well for me.

Rear Shock Settings
Hi, I am 6'2" and 240lbs, my wife is 5'11" and about 145 lbs. I run 17psi and set the damper on 1 when solo, 3 when 2 up, and 4 when we carry a little stuff with us. Rides really smooth, doesn't bottom out on the RR tracks. You might also look into a "shock balancing kit" for around $20. no matter what your pressure is, it's the same in both shocks). My first 600 miles was on what the dealer put in it when purchased, after that I ran the Mobil racing 4T 10w40 syn.(and swore by it). A friend talked me into trying Amsoil 10w-40 syn.(a little pricer) and now I'm going to stick with it. The engine is a little noiser, but it seems to run looser, and it seems to accelerate quicker. I like it and the guy @ the shop said to run it about 5000 miles.

Rear Shock Settings
I tried running 14lbs in both shocks with rebound on #2. The wife and I went on a 150 mile day trip last Saturday. The bike seemed to handle well. Never bottomed out. I may experiment with a higher pressure just to see how and if I like it. I just changed my oil at the 600 mile interval, and stayed with a 10w-40 dino motorcycle oil for now. Next change, I think I will switch to Amsoil synthetic. Heard many good things about it, but, then again, Rotella T 5w-40 synthetic is mighty tempting. Can't beat the price.
