Didn't know you were combining rallies. Great idea.

Was just near that area in mid-April this year at another rally.

You simply cannot find a bad road in that area, in my book.

It is a long one-day ride from my house (approx 10-12 hours at best, depending on stops). It is a couple-day ride for those in MN and parts of Wisconsin; unless they want to "Iron-butt" it there.

Mountain Home is also not that far from a few other attractions and things to do for those that do not like to ride all day...

Keep in mind the tourist traffic picks-up a lot starting in May -- although that would still be at the beginning of the season in that area (from what i heard).

Who knows if I'll be able to go (we have a baby coming in about 5 weeks) - Otherwise, I like it!! I just searched it and Mountain Home, AR is closer to me than Savannah, IL was. No problem :)

Mountain Home is 721.7miles from my house, a comfortable 2 day ride. I would suggest that you make that a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday event. That way a weeks vacation covers the time needed to attend this combined regional. You can count me in, I have been known to attend a rally now and then

Interesting :-) One of the reasons I joined VBA was to meet people in the NCR and attend rides/rallies in this area. For the last four years I have attended two rallies a year in Arkansas (connected with the VolusiaRiders Site), every May and September. Thought it would be nice not to travel so far for riding. But with that being said there is a reason I ride the 640 miles down there, they are some of the best roads to ride, Period! The rallies I attend are held at the HUB (http://hubinfo.com), near Harrison, AR. It is a Hotel for Motorcyclists. One of my favorite roads to ride is Push Mountain Road, which connects Mountain View to Mountain Home, worth the trip just for that road. I enjoy it more then the Pig Trail. When are you thinking the rally would be? Maybe I can connect a two for one if the timing is right. Oh, btw this past May when I rode down I did it in two day increments due to the fact it was a constant 40mph wind the whole time! Was not fun. Also it was the weekend the Tornadoes went through OK, we got the back end of it. One more souvenir I brought home with me was a nice paint chip in the front fender, (was able to buff out scratches). Was riding home on a river road early in the morning, saw two deer ahead and slowed down, when a third come out of nowhere, jumped my front fender and dragged his back hoof over my bike. Sat on the side of the road for a while after that one :-)

Thanks for that information Jen, the Hub looks like a great place. Glad that deer didn't take you down. Sure hope you make it to the NCR/SCR combined rally next year.

I hope that I can too. Would actually be different to ride with others to a rally. After this last ride to the HUB it started me to rethink long hauls solo, that wind was a beast and I kept thinking the "what if" things about riding solo. Swaying trucks are not fun to pass and my gas gauge was going faster then my speedometer :-)

I agree with the idea of Tues. Wed. Thur. for the rally dates.
As far as when, early in May, rain might be an issue.
Of course it seems to only rain on the weekends.
Week of Memorial Day.....
To late into June and heat will be an issue.
Of course whatever dates prove to be the best for everyone is the time we should have it.
With that said, I'm in the beer business and the week before, and the week of Memorial Day are out for me.

Early in May in Minnesota snow may be a problem. Sure would hate to be snowed in for a North Central Regional Rally!

I'd be interested in attending a rally in Ark. I've never been there. Have been planning to do a trip to that area. Tue, Wed and Thur or Wed, Thur, Fri would be good for me. Keep us updated.

I remember when I went to that area in mid-April, you were having snowstorms dumping on you. I left my place in 43 degree weather in the rain. It rained the entire time except one day, and I never saw temps above 53 degrees the entire 7-days. I am not so sure you were having snow yet in May though... were you? Like... late May?

Jen also brings up a good point also... in that they are in the alley for tornadoes around May. There were ads on TV for companies selling tornado shelters... Geez... Makes you think.

Let me know the dates as soon as possible... so I can attend, if invited.
