Total Debaffle Joy!

I just got back from a good ride with my now debaffled Vaquero and I am so happy!

I drilled out both restrictor plates in each muffler and am amazed at the difference in the motorcycle. The deep tone and loudness is perfect for me but I wasn't expecting the following side effects.

Cooler running - the bike now stays between 1/4 and 1/2 on the temperature gauge when cruising on the highway, previously it was over halfway and would easily push into the power restricted 3/4 range.

Smoother running - a consequence of the bike running much cooler.

Increased fuel economy - before debaffling my fuel economy was pegged at 5.4 L/100km now it hovers around 5.0L/100km. (43.5mpg vs 47mpg now).

Less throttle required when accelerating or to hold a constant speed.

A lot less need to downshift on hills.

No decal popping, just a nice pleasing rumble when decelerating.

All in all I couldn't be happier with the results, I'm so pleased I did it!

Have you reflashed the ECU with Ivan?

Well I'm SURE you took several pictures of the exact process and documented it so you could share with the class! Right?

Right? Hello ???

That must of been one magical debaffle! I'd have to ride under 50 mph to get that mileage and on a 40 degree day to see those readings on the temp gauge. I'm glad you're happy with the results.

No Snake haven't had the ECU flashed by Ivan, am considering it but if it keeps running the way it currently is I'll be happy to leave it stock.

I didn't Old Bear but if people would find that useful I'd be happy to put something together. It's a pretty simple procedure.

I believe he still has the baffles there, but the end plates have been drilled out. I did this on mine also, took about as long to get the drill and extension cord out than it took to actually do it. I used a 1 1/4" hole saw, if I remember right, and a 16" bit extension. Just insert from the back and drill them. The 1st is about 6" in, the 2nd is about 12" in. Pipes stay attached to the bike also.

It will get even better with the reflash.

Just be careful if you do it the first time out of the box. Cause it will run off and leave you behind. The wind up is a little slower than the lighter skoots but once the center of gravity moves back, mine starts getting light on the front end and a little squirrely.

There's a lot of potential in this skoot but it can become a beast if not respected.

First couple months after the flash, I had to remind myself around every corner on 2nd (intersections) 3rd (tight twisties) and 4th (wide freeway ramps) not to give it too much throttle for fear of picking bark from my teeth.

Yep that's what I did Rick, nice quick explanation! Everyone on YouTube calls it 'debaffling' so I used the same terminology to make it easier to find.

Thanks for more compelling testimonies Snake and VulcanD. It's coming up to winter here in Australia, I might have to park the bike for a few weeks and get the reflash if funds allow. ;)

Hey Guys,

I know its been a while since this post was posted, but I'm very interested in knowing exactly how to remove the baffles on my 2014 Vaquero.

Are there any photos/videos on the procedure?

This is another thread in which the steps used are documented. http://vulcanbagger.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48575
Not saying it was/is the same as the original posters process. However, have done it three times, each time with success...
My post is from 4/14/2019 in that thread.

Ride safe,
Smokier
