Radiator Hoses

Has anyone replaced their radiator hoses yet? Mine is a 2000 1500 with original hoses and about 75,000 miles. I thought I should change them just in case with that many miles on it.

Radiator Hoses

I changed mine when I repaired the oil leak on the rocker cover. I found that there was some wear from fretting. The hose from the radiator cap to the overflow had the most signs of wear. There were no soft spots after ten years. I can ride peacefully without fear of failure.

Mine are still the original hoses, Im sure they are ok but I think I'll do a quick inspection the next time I work on the bike.

Radiator Hoses

Just FYI the book recommends that the radiator hoses and o-rings be replaced every 3 years or 36,000 miles.

In my opinion they ought to last longer than that. I'll probably wait until mine are at the five year mark.

Radiator Hoses

I went 21 years and 155,000 miles on the hoses on my 86 aspencade. Changed fluid every 4 years and used distilled water as mix with Honda antifreeze. No reason why Nads shouldn't at least do 10-15 years with regular fluid changes.
