Nomad and Voyager Question

This is for the 2009-2010 Nomad and Voyager owners I have a 2006 Nomad have found a tour-pack for a 2009-2010 Nomad/Voyager was wondering if anyone had one with a tour-pack and has had it off wondering how it fastened and whether it would be possible to attach to a 2006 without alot of trouble

Nomad and Voyager Question

I wouldn't assume it would be a simple bolt-on.

Nomad and Voyager Question

Tom,
There are a lot of trunk options for your 2006. If you buy a Wompus Rack (made for your bike), you can put almost anything on it. There are a lot of HD trunks on ebay.....and both Scootworks and Premeux offer some nice HD style trunks as well. The question is simply how much are you willing to spend....??

The mounting brackets from the 1600 to the 1700 are completely different....apples to oranges...

Is this what you are talking about?

It took me a few hours to put it on.

If this is what you mean I happen to have one for sale...

Nomad and Voyager Question

Not sure what it would take to attach a new Kawi tour pac to your Nomad but I wish you luck. There are no doubt of a lot of Nomad owners here who would like to see it happen and would probably follow you down the same path.

I'm not sure I'm on the same page here, but if I had it to do over I would find another trunk. The Kaw one I have is flimsy to say the least.

Nomad and Voyager Question

If they are that flimsy (I have not got to look at one on a new bike) I would rather try the Harley Tourpack or the Premeux

Tom,
The Premeux....although spendy......is a 20 minute, bolt on accessory that comes with a nice chrome mounting bracket made for your bike, wrap around seat with factory two-tone paint and pin-striping. The locking latch and luggage rack comes already installed. They even make one with a built-in LED spoiler. If you have more money than time or skills, it is a fantastic choice.

If you have more time or skills than money.....Scootworks makes a nice trunk, but you have to bolt on the hardware and have it painted, although you have a black bike so you may not even need to paint it. Also, you will have to purchase a mounting bracket seperately to fit your bike. Decisions, decisions....

Nomad and Voyager Question

HD, Premeux and Scootworks are fiberglass. At the dealer, the Voyager trunk felt like ABS and very flimsy like Tombstone said. The Voyager trunk is also significantly smaller than the other options. Premeux doesn't have lights unless you get the spoiler ($350 option).

P.S. Glad to see that you got the signature pic figured out.

Nomad and Voyager Question

As Kris has been telling you, the Premeux is a great trunk, albeit expensive. I got one this past spring with the LED spoiler, and it was a great investment. I used the heck out of it this summer, and it was definitely the best thing I've ever bought for a bike. The quality of it is top notch, and as Kris said, it's a 20 minute install.
I don't have the time, nor the skill, to effectively paint one myself, so the Premeux was the best option for me. If you choose to go that route as well, you might want to order early. I ordered mine in early February, and it didn't show up until mid-April. I don't think that's always the case, as I think Kris's showed up in a couple of weeks. Maybe it depends on how busy they are.

I have the Premeux as well. I bought the spoiler too. I wanted lights on the trunk and didn't have the courage to drill mounting holes in something that pricey to mount my own lights.
