Question for those planning on attending the NW/SW rally

As you know if you have attended a rally before that we try to visit unique places (and good) to eat at during the rides if at all possible. The ride over Lolo Pass has limited choices in Lolo (mostly fast food). There is one place that I have found that appears to be very unique and a local favorite. It is the Jack Saloon. By the looks (website below) it is a very beautiful location and unique restaurant. The issue is that it is located off pavement and is approximately 2 miles of what appears to be well maintained gravel road.

Question is how many people are uncomfortable on riding on gravel? If there are many that are uncomfortable I may look at a different location if possible. Give me your thoughts.

Here is the website for the Saloon. http://thejacksaloon.com/ Go to the gallery and you can see what I mean by a beautiful location and what appears to be a unique eating area.

With google maps you can go into street view and see what the road looks like. For gravel, it looks pretty darn good. http://goo.gl/maps/HZ80C

For me, I ride gravel anytime I leave home just to make it to pavement so I really don't have a problem but do know people who haven't ridden gravel or really don't want to.

Too bad their menu isn't available online. I have no problem riding on gravel.

The reviews I have found are all good. I plan on giving them a call here soon and will see what they serve.

Sure, why not. It beats fast food. Wait a minute. If it starts to rain and this road turns into a soupy sloppy mess, then no.

Chances of precipitation in July are low. Their monthly average precipitation in July is 1.13 inches for the entire month.

I did talk with them today about their location. They said the gravel road is in very good condition with it being hard packed and a few potholes but those are in the middle of the road. They do see motorcycles ride the road.

Their menu is typical bar food. Burgers and a few other things. Appitizers are $5 and burgers range from $7.50 to $8.50. They were excited to hear about a group of this potential size visiting but that is because of how much they could sell for food more than likely.

Funny you should mention that, because traditionally the person attending a rally for the first time buys lunch for the group.

That is the rule. The person who has been a member the longest and attending their first rally buys.

Thumbs Up

One of my favorite things to do on a ride is find new and one off kind of places to eat. WE're in. And if someone else is buying, I'll have an order to go, too, please.
