Added a garage door opener ala Gadget's Website.
The differences, I wrapped the opener in tape to help keep it dry and I put the button next to the ignition switch. I simply use pull-ties to fasten the door opener to the ignition switch assembly under the fuel tank cover. I took a few pictures you can be seen below.
WHEN YOU DRILL THE HOLE FOR THE SWITCH GO SLOW THE PLASTIC HAS A TENDENCY TO MELT IF DRILLED AT HIGH SPEEDS!!

I'll be doing the same thing the next couple weeks. Im hiding the remote in the fairing, and will have a button mounted to operate it.

I put the button on the top of my side cover on my 900 and it was awkward to reach at times. I tried pushing on different places around the bike while riding and decided the area around the ignition was easy to reach with both hands all the time. It also is an area that's easy access for when you have to change the opener battery. Thinking about wiring it to the bike battery since it is a 12 volt battery in the opener.

I wish I could do this, I have a stupid intellicode 2 opener and cannot find the solder points anywhere on the board. Oh well I have a keypad. Nice job btw!

Here's what I use. I have 2 garages, one opener crapped out a couple of years back and when I replaced it, it had newer security technology than the remaining older one. This remote works with different versions, so I have a button for each door.

I just carry it in my pocket or stick it in one of the storage bins in my lower wind deflectors.

Got one of these for Christmas last year. Works great, kinda pricy but from all the remotes I had go bad it's worth it.

Ditto on Duffs comment. my mother in law bought it for me last Christmas, absolutely the best gift ever. My two younger kids are still trying to guess how I open the garage. Functional and entertaining.

I put mine inside the HD fairing. The small momentary on button switch Radio Shack sells fits perfectly in the HD hole originally used for the odometer reset button. Nobody knows it's there until I push the button.

I have a flash2pass and it works great. No special buttons, just flash the headlights twice and the garage door opens. There is a transmitter you hook to your high beam and the receiver just replaces your push button in the garage.

If anyone goes the flash2pass route, don't put it in the headlight bucket. That makes it directional and seriously reduces the range. Get about 75 feet range where I've got mine mounted. Had to be right in front of the door when it was in my headlight bucket

Mine is in the fairing, no problem coming down the street and flashing to open the door, as for the garage door opener, before I went to the flash to pass, I put mine in the left leg guard in the black part at the top of the guard, it fits in there no problem, velcroed in and protected from the rain, used gadgets directions for the wiring . Worked great.

i mounted mine below the fuel guage with velcro its underneath and out of the weather

Thats the same spot I'll be using for my remote switch as well, I had a button that will fit in there perfectly.

I don't understand why I'd need anything more than the little remote I've been carrying in my pocket for more than a decade. It's small, portable, and has worked great with every bike I've owned.

Seriously, is there something I'm missing by not hardwiring an opener into my bike?

Some of us just don't like keeping track of a remote. I like riding up the ally toward my garage and punching a button to ride right in without stopping.
