I will be replacing mine Friday or Saturday coming. I'll take pictures and post them in the Tech board along with a narrative. It will be my first so I'm in the same boat with you.

When i did my jog and clucthspring Bob (Judge) told me and I did it and that was to cut the 2 brake wires and then remove the whole foot board and down tube assembly at the same time and then use butt joints on the 2 wires when putting it back together. This saves a whole lot of time and flustration of fooling with the brake spring and floor board as everything stays altogether.

I didn't think disconnecting the brake switch wiring was all that strenuous. I wouldn't advocate cutting the brake wires and then butt splicing them. That's just me, though. ::)

The hardest part of changing the clutch spring is removing the shaft nut that is torqued to 103 ft/lbs. If you have access to a decent electric or air impact gun, use that to bust the nut loose. DO NOT USE IT TO TIGHTEN THE NUT!

It is a simple job. The biggest thing to do, is to keep the clutch cover bolts in order as they are different lengths. Just line them up in the order you remove them someplace where they won't get kicked.

If you have any problems just call 561-210-3399. I just did another one on Thursday. I have it down to about an hour.

I copied and pasted Pete's thread link in the Technical Mechanical board. I don't have access to the Garage Board to move a thread. Todd, when you get a chance, move Pete's thread and replace my copy and paste. Thanks Pete. You saved me lots of typing and photo snapping.

Gadgets site gives a really good how to on it, read it a couple times first. He explains it rather simple. Just follow it one step at a time. Its an easy job to do.

I've seen them done in the parking lot at VROC rallys.

I don't plan on bringing an impact wrench with me.

thanks everyone....i've read gadgets on spring replacement a few times and will tackle the job in a week or so when weather warms up.
it always seems more difficult before you start but once you get in there, gadgets explanations come in handy.
did my extenders and swing arm service and also steering bearing tighten all from reading gadgets over and over to make sure i didn't miss anything.............thanks again and wish me luck.........

Hey crapper, my plans were to start on mine Friday morning. I have everything except the cover gasket. I ordered it last weekend and it didn't ship until Friday. It is due to be delivered Monday so I may decide to get everything out of the way and loosen the bolts on the side cover Sunday afternoon. That would give me a big head start for Monday. If I would have known, I would have had my dealer cut me one Friday morning instead of ordering one.
