Hmm that answers some questions I had about the front desk clerk at the hotel in Trinidad when we stayed on our way to Phoenix in December.

I think we're not giving trip much credit. Since the 2009 national rally was on the west coast in Custer, Trip is going to take us deep sea fishing in salida colorado which is further west out in the ocean. I need to make sure I have my deep sea fishing license

Haven't been to Salida since 04. Stayed three nights there on my way to Sturgis. We stayed there and drove in a different direction every day. Interesting things to see and do from there.

Well Salida was a suggestion I made several months ago, but, it was just a suggestion. After me and the committee take a look at things, we may hold the rally in another Colorado town.... we'll see.

I wouldn't bother if I were you BD...... you're idea of deep sea fishing is looking in the lobster tanks at Red Lobster. No license needed for that.

Not sure what the "grumblings" were about your original idea...

Yeah...there was quite a lot of discussion at the SW Rally about next years National. Those Colorado boys were tossing out ideas like candy from a parade float.... I'm sure they will dial in a great location and everyone....including me....will have a great time...!

Greg....
The basic consensus seemed to be that Salida lacked the quality riding areas that are much more prevalent in other parts of Colorado. Having ridden in Colorado before...I can attest to what kind of quality is available there, and the Colorado guys just want to make sure that the National Rally provides everyone the best riding opportunities available to them. That's it...that's all.

The three of us, actually only those two, will be researching and checking things out in Colorado over the next few months. We hope to make final decisions and announce all vital information to the VBA masses by October. For now, the only thing I can definitely tell you about the National next year is that it will be in Colorado and I'll have nothing to do with it's organizing! All other info will be forthcoming.

Keep in mind that the decisions we, actually I, make, will be for the betterment of my wallet and while we certainly can't please everyone, every effort will be made to accomodate every one of my needs.
Thanks,

That's funny I had a boss who kept finishing my sentences and putting words in my mouth, We duct taped him and sent him to the west coast.

Thanks Kris. I figured it was something like that. Have never ridden in CO, but have visited many times. My favorite state...

Saliva wouldn't be the worst possible choice. But Montrose would be my suggestion. Much riding there and access to lots of other stiff. RR rides, rafting, zip lines and so on. And for those that couldn't do kanab this year access to the east half of Utah to.
Or if the goal is further east in Colo. how about Co springs or Golden?

Montrose would be nice with the gazillion dollar highway just south of it. However, for those coming from the East it's an additional 1/2 day hike over the Rockies from Colorado Springs.
