Complicated Things Made Simple

A friend sent me this after we were discussing radial engines one day at the hunt camp. Its amazing how some things that look so complicated are actually pretty simple when you take a closer look. I found this rather interesting.

It amazing whoever thought of making the sewing machine work like that, and to considor the speed that they can do it. That is a lot of tiny parts working pretty quick to accomplish that.
I like the one that loads the guns on the torpedo ships. thatquite a ride to get the shells from the bottom of the ship to the deck.

I bet over half of all sewing machines barely get used. I know the one we bought for my wife is almost 25 years old and has extremely low mileage. I think we bought it so I would have something to move around from room to room once in a while. ;)

Ring, that was a great link.... Pictures sometimes communicate better than words, especially in my case.

One of the most fasinating Radial engines to me is the WW-1 german Dr-1 Tri plane engine, that the crankshaft is fixed, with fixed rods and the clyinders turn. The prop was directly attached the cly cases. I am not aware of any other radial engines that work that way.
