Actual MPG
What are your readings of the "guesstimator" vs your actual MPG? Mine shows about 6 MPG more than actual. Just curious if this is about average for the difference.

My Honda goes the other way.....display shows 10% less than it actually gets.
i.e. display says 40 but you are actually getting 44. I know....who cares about a Honda on a Kawasaki forum?

Most 4-5 mpg less than it shows, but did have once were I got about 1 mpg better than it showed, and a couple times it was within 1 mpg of actual.

My calculated at the pump (via Iphone app) mileage for the roughly 4,500 miles I've ridden since january shows I am averaging 36.X mpg - My Guestimator, which I reset in January indicates 42.3 mpg.
In 2013 - the 10,000 + miles I put on my Voyager indicated around 41 - 44 mpg (Kept getting reset due to me fumbling around), while the calculated at the pump averaged 36.X mpg. That's not saying I am consistently getting 36 mpg with each tank - I have got as low as 31.X and as high as 44.X depending on riding conditions, riding style, temperature etc . . .

If you were to reset the display at every fill up would it be more accurate?

I reset at each fill up 2002 1500fi Nomad (stock except Cobra Duals no cat, and a slight intake air mod)
Running an un-corrected speedometer/odometer..I got 42 mpg indicated...then after the intake mod..I get an indicated 45 mpg |

If you reset it at every fill up the average fluctuates wayyyy too much. Low to no throttle down a long hill it says you're getting 55 mpg, open the throttle a bit for a flat, or up hill . . . it says 27 mpg . . . Resetting it and letting it run some miles under it gives it the opportunity to level out as the temporary highs and lows don't play into it so much . . .

Mine is more accurate not reseting it. the longer I go with no reset the closer it is. reset in may 2014 and now in July 2014 the last 3 fillups have been less than 1MPG difference If I were to pull the trailer then there is a 4MPG difference. needs miles to get back to 1MPG difference. Have not reset for 4967.8 miles.

Check you mileage at every fill up. [Miles/gallons*odometer error] gives the "real" millage for that particular tank. A dozen or so tanks averaged together gives a better overall look at what you're really getting per gallon.

The fuel milage really sucks on the 1700 rode the blue ridge pky and avg 43mpg my friend has a new harley that avg 51 mpg. on hwy I avg 36-39 mpg the harley avg 48 mpg thats a big gap. I have a cobra auto tuner that helped the milage some, really the only thing I don't like about the nomad

I find it a bit hard to believe that any large displacement bike with a fairing and on level roads gets a real 50+ MPG at highway speeds. I once got almost 50 MPG (corrected) but it was on a Aspen to Estes Park run which is virtually all downhill.

My readout is pretty close to actual. 70 mph no wind 46 mpg's. 80 MPH about 40 mpg's. Add 5 mpg's if the fuel has no OTOH.
