New Road King Seat

I bought a seat for $35 at a yard sale I saw on Craigslist.
It is the style I have been wanting.
Solo tan seat with leather "wings".
It fits so perfectly I would almost bet it came off of a Nomad rather than a Road King.
Maybe they are that similar in dimension? idk
Now all I need is to find a solo rack for the fender.

How did you attach the seat to the bike. Did you have to modify anything? BTW, looks good.

Yes. I had to make a bracket across the back and attached it to the bar that goes across the fender under the seat. Attached some heavy rubber feet that it sits onto the frame with.
The front still moves a bit, but not bad.
I rode it to work and in a Veterans benefit ride over the weekend with it just sitting in place.
Of course my Mustang seat was not attached either but it didn't sit as high off the frame.

I couldn't stand the license plate standing up in the air so I moved it down.
I tried to find some info on laying it down but I think I'm going to like this once I get a plain, flat chrome license frame and maybe a light on it.
Now, what to do with all that fender?
I like a rack but also want to make a leather cover to possibly match the seat.

That seat seems to fit pretty good from the pics. You can't beat a good deal like that.

Just so nobody misunderstands and blows a bunch of money on a roadking seat.

You state "It fits so perfectly I would almost bet it came off of a Nomad rather than a Road King.
Then you state "I had to make a bracket across the back and attached it to the bar that goes across the fender under the seat. Attached some heavy rubber feet that it sits onto the frame with.
The front still moves a bit, but not bad.

I sat on a road king at a dealer and the seat was so comfortable I bought one on Ebay.
It did not come close to fitting my 07. It was a dual seat not a solo but it seems from your post you had to modify the solo a bit to make it fit also.
I'm just saying.....................

Thumbs Up

It did not come with any brackets or feet on it like a new seat would.
All the mounting holes lined up.
I just had to provide new hardware.
I do love the new seating position it puts me in.
I am several inches back and at least an inch higher.
Feels like a new bike for just a few bucks.
I kind of doubt if it came off a Road King. It had to fit this bike before.
Particularly the way the leather skirt forms perfectly over the chrome side rails and around the shock area.
I think he felt claiming Harley heritage would make it sell better since it does have the look anyway.

Looks good. I like to see folks making things fit. I always say if it don't fit force it! Good job!
