03' 1500 FI Nomad starting problem
Hey folks,
My Nomad just started acting up and I'm looking to see if anyone else has heard of this. Occasionally (more often lately) when I turn the key on the lights all light up on the Speedo but don't go out and there is no Fuel pump noise and the bike won't start? If I turn the key off then on a few times the bike will react as normal and start. Any help would be great! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Possible switch problem. I would check out the switch as others have had a similar problem.

Mine has been doing that for a couple years now, take it apart and clean it. You will find that a set of contacts are stuck, and not floating on the little spring in there. Be careful not to lose any of the small parts.

Even though all the lights come on?
It turns over but obviously won't start without the fuel pump running..lol |

Thats exactly how it acts. I listen for my fuel pump to whine for a couple seconds. then I know it will start.
Its not that difficult to take apart and clean, other than that you can buy a new switch to cure the problem.

I had the same problem, I bought a new ignition switch, it's still in the box unused. 95+$'s. My brother-in-law sprayed some WD40 in the old switch and told me to take the extra stuff off the key ring. Haven't had a problem since. Good luck.
