A "majority" of motorcycle riders, or a "majority" of the general public? Remember, a majority wants to infringe on our second amendment rights. Government should not be in the business of legislating personal choices. Just look at Mayor Bloomberg of NYC. He wants to limit the size of fountain drinks. I am not anti-helmet, but I am anti-helmet LAWS.

You guys missed the spammer wanting us to take a bus trip. I edited my post after his post was deleted. Should have removed the "wear a helmet" phrase.

Steve, I do believe in choice, and never tell others to wear a helmet, my error.

5
CJ, the poll was on the MSNBC site, so it was open to the public. I was disappointed that so many had decided to make that decision for others.
They are probably the same ones that feel abortion is okay.

OB, I haven't tried it yet, as it looks like it is beyond my arthritic joints capacity. And I have never done yoga.

Hope this clears it up for you, this is the poll listed on MSN.

Helmet law repeals blamed for motorcycle deathsMotorcycle deaths rose 9 percent last year, according to new safety data.

Ouch! that had to hurt. People want to choose and often for the wrong reasons. As I have gotten older things take longer to heal, weeks instead of days, and the doctor visits become more annoying and invasive. Being poked and prodded all in the name of keeping you healthy is bad enough. Every time I see pictures like the one above it just reminds me how lucky I am to wear a helmet and the proper gear. Road rash and the complications from a wreck would be considerably worse without it.

Thanks for clarifying that Gerry, I can now see that the right to chose is more important than life it's self.

I wear a helmet, fullface, whenever I ride.
I think everyone should wear an approved helmet when they ride.
That is my opinion and I don't care if you like it or not.

This a mild case of road rash.

It is your life, you have the right to choose how and what you want to do with it.
I believe in order to choose, you need to be aware.

Everyone in this country is free to wear a helmet. If people support the government forcing us to wear helmets, then they should support government bans and regulations on everything that is considered harmful to us such as smoking, drinking, junk food, and hundreds of other things that is not good for the individual.

I don't care if someone else wears a helmet or not, as long as they are free to make their own choice.

I didn't say everyone should be forced to wear an approved helmet.
I said in my opinion, everyone should wear an approved helmet.
I mean come on, it is common sense.

If someone wants to take chances with their life to prove a point, that is their business. If that same someone gets seriously hurt and ends up costing thousands and thousands of dollars to the government health care system that we pay for with our tax dollars here in Quebec, then it is the governments business and responsibility to make sure that person at least takes reasonable precaution to protect himself and not waste my money and others.
